Hello Mods! I'm really excited to app to this game and the premise just looks fantastic. However I have a (rather long, sorry!) question about the point system, and I'm quite sorry if I'm mistaken!-
Bel here is quite sadistic and likes to hurt people. Say he has a roommate named Bob. As per the first mission, Bel and Bob each earn 200 points. Of course, Bel is a mean and greedy little bastard, and tortures Bob for 150 points. This means that Bob will have 50 points, and Bel 350. Bel keeps attacking Bob until Bob runs out of points and Bel gets them all.
Of course, to stab things effectively, Bel needs to eat. Therefore, he buys bundles every week, and those use up points that are essentially gone for good and out of the hurt-people-for-points system.
Eventually, Bel runs out of points and has to harm Betty to get more. He hurts her until she's at zero again, and he buys necessities until he's at zero again. Repeat the cycle.
What will happen with this kind of system is that eventually all the points that are received by hurting each other will be used up for food and other necessities, since the characters can't starve. Eventually, there will simply be no more points to take from other people, and since the rules state that "Characters who go into further joypoint debt will not be able to afford food or other living expenses", everyone will starve.
That long hypothetical scenario basically leads up to my question of will there be events, job offers or other ways to introduce joypoints into the system without having to take them from someone else to avoid this sort of scenario?
Thank you for your time, and I'm excited about this game! Feel free to unscreen this comment, btw.
There will be multiple events that introduce new joypoints into the system, and RECOVERjoy will be sending out missions to all characters biweekly that will also give them new points. Characters are additionally able to take out a reasonable loan from RECOVERjoy if they don't comfortably have enough points, so long as they pay it back before they leave. And, while there is no official way offered by RECOVERjoy, if characters are somehow able to find a way to start businesses, they are free to.
We realize it's something of a difficult system, but it was necessary to encourage competition. Thank you for your question, we'll clarify it in the FAQ! If you have any other concerns, don't hesitate to contact us.
