SETTING

Joywick
This is the city all players find themselves staying in while the game takes place. Its technology is perhaps a few steps better than that of a modern day city on Earth, although much will be familiar or even identical in nature. The city itself is circular and built around the innermost building, which also happens to be the largest and visible from nearly every point in the city. View it from high enough above, and you'll see the town's shape is really that of a very large smiley face.

There are many small bookstores, restaurants, and miscellaneous buildings, there are several larger or more important buildings.

RECOVERjoy Headquarters
This building stands at the center of the city and towers over everything else, its topmost reaches touching the barrier at the maximum height of the city. It's as friendly as such a massive building could be, colored in bright orange, but it's protected both by guards and a shimmering orange barrier, so getting inside any way except by appointment is currently impossible.

Stadium
Perhaps the grandest building outside of the RECOVERjoy HQ, this stadium is top-quality. There are various sports events going on in its many different arenas and fields at most times, but whenever the RECOVERjoy Corporation feels like helping along its players with a competition, this is the place they'll use.

Library
This large building houses an extensive collection of books. Covering three over-sized floors, there is no end to the amount of fiction and nonfiction from all sorts of worlds here--except, of course, the mysterious lack of any information on the world RECOVERjoy happens to be in.

Electronics Store
A large, modern-looking building with glass storefronts displaying all manner of technological goodies, this is the place to go to get your joyPhone fixed or to buy a computer. If you're particularly clever, there are even the parts to make your own laptop or PC.

Weapons Shop
A shop that looks like it was designed by children, this place is covered in streamers and beaming, smiling decorations. It's also covered in gleaming, dangerous weapons. From a toy hammer to a handgun, if you want to acquire a weapon this is the place to do it. The store does not carry particularly oversized weapons: no cannons or bombs, unfortunately. You'll have to figure out a way to make or acquire that sort of thing on your own!

Abilities Shop
This shop looks just as high-tech as the electronics store, and at first it doesn't appear to have any products. View its various shining touch screens, though, and you'll see this is the place to acquire abilities. If you've lost your abilities, this is the place to buy them back. If you didn't have abilities to begin with... Well, you can try some out now!

Grocery Store
This store is the only place to buy food and hygiene supplies in the city. It's system is unique in that all of its products are packaged into bundles: fill out a list of what you would like under a certain kind and one of the shopkeeper robots will be happy to deliver the product to you in a few moments! Isn't that convenient?

Park
A lush area of neatly trimmed grass and perfectly-groomed trees, this area is great for relaxing after a long day of gathering joypoints. There are plenty of paths for running or walking, a playground with slides, swing sets, and an impressively large jungle gym, and a massive fountain in the center of the park.

Clinic
A small hospital will try to cure what ails you for a small fee--although they can't do anything much more complicated than setting a broken bone. Any medication you might need can also be purchased here.

Bar
An establishment that seems to have in its possession every kind of drink available, alcoholic or non-alcoholic. There's always some sort of musical entertainment taking place, be it classical piano or rock 'n' roll.

Arcade
An old-fashioned arcade that carries video games unfamiliar to all characters, but will have all types of genres. They are exceptionally difficult to win, but it can be done. All games cost one (1) joypoint, and you cannot win any joypoints from them.

Laundromat
Clean your clothes! Costs 10 joypoints for a bundle load. The NPCs will not stop anyone from messing with another character's laundry.

Apartments I
The default home you'll find yourself in upon beginning to play the game. Cramped and crowded, it's not a place you'll want to stick around very long, even though it is clean enough.

Apartments II
Individual apartments for rent in the city. These are slightly more expensive than simply living in the housing you're provided, but the quality is higher as well. You'll have your apartment all to yourself and you'll have much more space to stretch out in.

Condos
Small-to-medium condos for sale or rent in the city. These are a step up from the previous apartments, and provide enough room for 2-4 people to live comfortably. Of course, if you want a condo all to yourself and can afford it, you'll certainly have no shortage of space.

Townhouses
Large townhouses for sale or rent in the city. These are the highest quality housing, and their quality is reflected in their price. A townhouse could easily fit up to eight people, so maybe you can get a few friends and combine resources to move in.
